The nonchromaffin paraganglia sense pH,carbon dioxide,and oxygen concentrations in the blood and participate in respiratory,and perhaps circulatory,control. They include the CAROTID BODY,AORTIC BODIES,the GLOMUS JUGULARE,and the GLOMUS TYMPANICUM.
